My Background

I graduated from Yale University’s School of Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 1996, and moved to Portland, Oregon at that time. I worked at All Women’s Health Services, from 1996 through 2002, doing gynecologic care and acting as a primary care provider as well.  I also worked for 13 years at Old Town Clinic, helping mostly homeless adults with their primary care needs.  Additionally, I have spent time working for The Multnomah County Health Department at Westside Clinic and The North Portland Health Center, providing care to children and adults.  Most recently I spent the last eight years at Downtown Gynecology and Downtown Women's Center, returning to women's health care.

I have been a student of western herbal medicine since 1997, and have studied with a variety of influential teachers including Cascade Anderson Geller and Adam Sellar.  I enjoy incorporating this knowledge into my practice.  I am also a certified practitioner of The Arvigo Techniques of Mayan Abdominal Therapy, an external massage technique which helps with many pelvic, abdominal and low back complaints. This work has been an important part of my practice since 2009. Most recently, I have been excited to discover Functional Medicine, a patient centered approach to healing which focuses on rooting out the underlying cause of our health concerns by addressing lifestyle and environmental issues.

With my spare time, I enjoy dancing, tending my garden, riding my bicycle and watching my daughter grow. I speak Spanish and am dedicated to building a practice which is welcoming to all, regardless of color, language, age, gender status or sexual orientation.
